Awards and Advancement to the State Competition

Batavia will be hosting two simultaneous regionals. Each regional will consist of 16 teams and will follow the guidelines set forth by FIRST as indicated in the official game manual. The Illinois FLL State Committee has determined the number of teams moving on to the state competition from each regional event.

A designated number of teams will be selected to move on to the State competitions. Winning an award does not guarantee a team moving on to state. Likewise, not winning an award does not preclude a team from moving on to the state competition.

Pit Area

Each team will have a 6' cafeteria style table in the pit area with a surge protector.
The pit area is located on a raised stage and is not easily accessible by people who have a difficult time with stairs. If a member of your group has an issue with walking up/down stairs, let us know by Wednesday prior to the event and we will make appropriate adjustments.

Concessions

A large variety of reasonably priced delicious food items will be available for purchase through-out the day, including breakfast selections, refreshments, lunch items, hot dogs, and snacks. We appreciate your patronage of our concessions as it helps to defray the regional costs.

Pizza and drink order sample forms - Green Regional and Gold Regional (check, credit card, cash accepted) To be released the week of the event. The actual color coded lunch forms will be in your Welcome Folder. You can use this sample form to gather orders and money ahead of time.

We will be selling the famous Hexbugs at the regional, state t-shirts, buttons, baked goods, and our special holiday raffles.

Purchase can be made with cash, check, or credit card.

Pre-order lunch forms need to be turned in at the concession counter by 9:45 am.

"No one that comes to our regional goes away hungry!"

LegoTykes Area

For those of you participating in the event that would like to bring along young children, we will have a special location set up called the "LegoTykes Area". We will have tables set up and other entertaining things for the little botters to enjoy. This area is intended for kindergartners and older, is close to the competition area, and is complimentary.

Armed Forces Support

We will be collecting items for the Armed Forces. These items will be turned over to the Fox Valley Troop Support, a local organization, for packaging and mailing to the armed forces. We are asking each team to bring at least one bag to donate. You can include a letter with your bag if you like.

Bags should be dropped off at the designated table near the check in table.

Questions from some of the coaches

You may ask questions via email about the event; the answers will be posted here if appropriate.

State Competitions: there are 2 state competitions this year - a) Central Illinois Jan 24 and b) Elgin January 17. If you are one of the chosen to move on to the state competition, you will be given a choice of which one you want to attend when you register for the state event. If you choose, Central Illinois, than you will be put into a lottery of all the teams that chose that they wanted to go to that event, and a certain number will be chosen to attend. Selecting Central Illinois does not guarantee you a spot; it only puts you into the lottery for that event.
